Earlier this year I knitted myself another hat. You might remember me posting about my first hat here, which was back in 2012. I really do like my dark purple hat, but it’s just not warm enough when it gets cold and windy here, so I decided on a thicker one with a nice cable pattern, of course another DROPS pattern.
As I have a dark purple winter coat and a bright pink parka I thought this light purple/lilac would work well. I actually love this colour, ever since I used it to knit some gloves for a swap.
I love the cables on this hat and how they create this gorgeous crown…just a shame that when I wear it I can’t really see it.
Here are some shots of me wearing the hat:
I know, I know, it’s been too long. I promised myself with a new year I would be trying to post more, I guess it is only 10th of January, so I can still fulfil that promise! So, I will attempt to post about the mountains and mountains of FO’s I’ve finished in the last months, if not years.
So, without further ado, here are some gloves I knitted for my mum, I knitted the same pair for myself. In fact, I posted about them last year, check it out here.
I love these gloves, and my mum does too. They’re really easy to knit, which surprised me as they’re gloves and not mittens. And they look really good too.
I love that the cable pattern continues into each of the fingers, how great is that?
And I love the cable pattern, which, in my opinion, looks very intricate. But let me tell you a secret, it really isn’t complicated!
I do feel that I need to find a better way of sewing up at the end, I don’t like the way it looks at the moment.
And another bonus, they are amazingly warm!
I swear even though I’ve not been blogging, I’ve been really, really busy knitting! I can promise that I can keep you busy with FO posts for at least a month. So, the first one finished project I want to start with is a pair of gloves for myself.
You might rememeber I knitted some gloves for a friend who I did a swap with, I blogged about it here. Because I loved the gloves, I decided to make myself a pair.
I knit them in the DROPS Merino Extra Fine blue, I did try to get hold of the purple, but was unable to. But it does actually match my purple Winter coat. And oh boy, did I need these this cold Winter. It’s been way too long and cold, although there’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel, or rather some sun!
I love the cable detail on these gloves and especially the fact that each individual finger still has the cabling on it.
The gloves really are great, they’ve kept me toasty warm. And I made the same pair for my mum, in a different colour, but I will make sure to post about them another day!
It seems that I’ve taken a bit of a longer off blogging than I thought. It doesn’t mean that I took off time from knitting. And for once I actually knitted something for myself. As you might remember I was in Germany at the end of August for my brothers wedding and I had a lovely dress that needed a nice bolero. So I knitted this:
It’s a lovely easy pattern, I started knitting it on Friday evening (the wedding was on Saturday) and finished it about one hour before the wedding.
I wasn’t too sure about knitting it out of mohair yarn as I thought it might be too hot, and I was right. But I was able to wear it in the church and later in the evening, just not during the day.
I’m really pleased with the end result and I think I look rather good in it :-).
