You know those projects that you can make in an afternoon? I love those kinds of projects. For example, a nice simple beanie, like this one:
It’s a very straightforward pattern that I have knitted countless times before and since. I like to make each beanie a little bit different by using different coloured yarn and by adding a little accent on the rim and the tip/top of the hat!
I knitted this hat back in October 2015 for my best friends daughter. I used up some of my DROPS Merino Extra Fine that I had left over from some previous projects. And if I remember right, it only took me a couple of hours to finish.
I adore these pictures my friend shared with me, and little lady is pretty chuffed with her hat. I also love this one with her big brother. Look at these two monkeys… I can’t wait to see them again at some point!

As most of you will know, I love knitting for friends, family and myself. But most of all, I absolutely LOVE knitting for my two boys. It makes me so happy that even though we now live in Australia I still get to knit for both of them! Just today my eldest has asked me to make him another jumper for the Australian Winter. Now that is the best praise and thanks I could ever ask for! So, I want to show you a jumper I made for him in 2014.
I loved making this for my son. It’s such a simple, but straightforward pattern. From the guys at Drops Design. I used very similar colourways of DROPS Fabel yarn, so the pattern isn’t necessarily as obvious as it could have been with more contrasting colours. But I still love it!
It’s a lovely jumper for in between seasons, as it’s light enough to just put on over a T-Shirt. I was sure that my youngest had worn it many times, but I only managed to find one picture of him wearing it…check it out at the end of this post. However, would you look at my sweet boy, this makes me beyond happy!
Pattern: Hello Stripes by DROPS Design.
Yarn: DROPS Fabel.
Needle size: 3.5mm
Knitting time: 6th September 2013 – 4th January 2014.
There is something so charming and magical about pixie hats on babies and children. They are whimsical and sweet and most importantly keep little heads warm and cosy.
I love the Finley pattern by Dover & Madden. It’s a quick to knit and very easy to follow pattern with a wonderful finished result. Over the years I have made a few in various sizes. I also like the fact that I can use various yarns to create different sizes.
Here’s one in green, using DROPS Baby Merino.
Another one using DROPS Nepal, which is wonderfully soft against the skin. Such a gorgeous colour too.
Another DROPS Baby Merino for a friend who has a son almost exactly the same age as my Max.
The following made using DROPS Nepal too.
Would you look at this sweet boy wearing his pixie hat? Isn’t he just the sweetest thing? His big smile. It warms my heart.
This final hat was also made using DROPS Nepal.
Just look at this wee man wearing his pixie bonnet. Just adorable.
