FOs: Booties Galore

These little booties have been a go-to for quick and easy baby knits in the past. They are based on a free pattern that I have heavily customised in the past. I don’t even know how many pairs I have made of these… But I thought I’d share the ones I can find in my archives in this one photo-heavy post. I am going to start with the first lot made between 2013-2015… there are of course many more!

Starting with this sweet yellow pair I made for one of my husbands oldest friends when he had a daughter back in 2013. I used DROPS Muskat, a 100% mercerized cotton yarn for these, as they were going to Australia.

A girly pair, made in 2014 for an old work colleague. Leftovers of DROPS Merino Extra Fine. I even used to make little boxes for the booties, the perfect gift!

Another 2014 make, a cotton pair for friends in Australia.

Two lots for a beautiful friend of mine who is a doula and I believe she was gifting them to clients or friends who had just had babies, also from 2014.

A pair for a little boy, made in 2015 for a Ravelry/Internet friend.

In 2015 I also briefly supplied a number of beanies and booties to a baby shop in Greenwich, UK, where we used to live, called Greenwich Baby. I made 10 pairs of booties in total!

Don’t they look great all in a row:

Another pair for a baby boy born in Australia.

For a baby boy in Germany.

A baby girl in the UK.

An order for one of my best friends, who was gifting them to another friend.

A pair for a fellow Mama who I met during a wonderful pregnancy exercise class.

A pair for a friend from school (when I still lived in Germany)…. they liked it so much that his wife ordered two pairs for twin girls.

And the two pairs for the twin girls.

A pair for a friend from my eldest son’s Steiner Kindergarten in England.

For a friend of a friend’s who also lives in Australia.

Another lot for a friend my best friend went to university with.

An old colleague of mine from my first serious PR job in the North of England, Morecambe to be exact.

And the final pair for 2015 made for my good friend and ex-housemate and his wife, I used to work with both of them in Lancaster, UK. They had a sweet baby girl back in 2015.

FO: Booties

So, this is me trying to get back to posting again regularly about my finished knitting (FOs). Even though I have been quiet on that front on here doesn’t mean that I haven’t been knitting like a maniac. I have so many amazing things to show you! But for today, since it is after my bedtime (which is 10pm by the way), here are some booties that I knit for an ex-colleague back in May 2015.

Regular readers of this blog will know that this is my version of Saartjes Bootees that I have knit up several hundred times now.

cc-1They are still my favourite gift to knit up for someone that is expecting. I love them especially because they also enable me to knit up some leftover yarn from other projects. This particular pair was knit up in DROPS Muskat.

The other thing I love about these booties is that I can knit them in 2 hours flat. The sewing up takes a little longer, but I can basically whip up 5 pairs of these in a weekend.

And of course they fit perfectly into the little cardboard boxes I make to present them in. The perfect gift!
