In 2014 I made a birthday present for my good friend Kersti, she often orders booties that she gifts to friends from me. So I thought it was high time I knit something for her.
She had seen this poncho when I was knitting it for another friend and really liked it. Most of Kersti’s clothes are black or white, so she was keen for a white poncho.
I still love this pattern, even though it takes quite a while to knit up. Luckily it calls for 4mm needles, which are my favourite size needles.
When I was knitting with the white DROPS Muskat cotton yarn I was worried that it would stain while I was still completing it. But as it is cotton it can be washed at 60 in the washing machine.
The collar turned out really big, so I sewed it on and added an elastic band to it, to make sure it wouldn’t get wider.
I can’t remember how many skeins of yarn I used, but I know it was a lot.
I love how the leaf pattern looks on the front and back, and because they are the same it can be worn either way.
And my friend loved the poncho when I gave it to her.
This is how much she loved it. By the way, I LOVE that her hair matches the poncho.
