Finished Objects: Piles of Baby Knits

If you follow me over on Instagram you will have seen some of the piles of baby knits I have posted about the last couple of days. These are all items from way back when in 2013.

The first lot was a number of items for really good friends of mine and in fact we used to be neighbours back when I lived in Surbiton, England. We had many, many good times together. And while we are still in touch we live on different continents now, Kim and her family are in South Africa. Kim is actually the genius behind my gorgeous logo.

First up a pair of baby booties that I used to knit all the time. In fact I had made so many of these over the years, they only took me 2 hours to make. I have’t made a pair of these in a while now. The pattern is based on Saartjes Bootees with some of my own variations.

Second up the sweetest little baby bonnet, perfect for a sweet baby girl. From the DROPS Design team, my go to for easy, but classic baby knit patterns and best of all, they are free!

And finally a little cardigan with extra flounce. Also from the guys at DROPS Design.

I had also made her a blanket, which I blogged about here. Don’t you think it makes as pretty pile of goodies?

The second pile of baby knits was for another good friend of mine, who I went to boarding school with in England for a year in 1996. Her baby boy was born very early and when I found out I quickly got busy and knitted up some extra special items for this extra special boy. As you can see in the final picture, this little cardigan was waaaay too big for him initially, but he eventually grew into it and in fact my friend loved it so much she ordered two more from me…

I also knitted up a very thick, very simple blanket for this little nugget. It kept him very warm indeed. No pattern for this one, I just made it up as I went along.

This sweet little boy also received a pair of baby booties (my own pattern), which I blogged about here and a cable beanie, blogged about here.

The final pile of baby knits was for friends of ours, old friends of my husband. Their son was born exactly two years after our eldest on the same date. They also lived in London for some time, but have now been back in Sydney for a couple of years.

First off, a little cardigan. This has been passed on to other babies since, which makes me beyond happy. It’s a Drops Design pattern, one that I have knitted a few times.

Some more booties, socks and a little hat, a complete outfit!

The final pile… I have to say I love knitting all kinds of things…but still my favourite knits are baby knits.
