FO: Slipper Socks

I would like to preface this post by letting everyone know that most of the items I am posting about are from the last few years and were not knitted in the last few weeks…after all I have an almost 8 months old and a 4 1/2 year old at home :-).

One of the mum’s at school asked me to make her and her daughter some slipper socks earlier this year.

And since it’s getting cooler now, I thought it would be the perfect time to post about them.

IB 15This first pair was the one for her daughter, in a size 35.

IB 13I used this DROPS Design pattern, which was a great easy and quick knit.

IB 12

It called for DROPS BigDelight, which I’ve only used once before when I knit my friend a top, which I posted about here.

They look quite good on don’t they (even if it was on my then pregnant feet)…and they are very, very warm indeed.

Pattern: Allegria by DROPS Design.
Yarn: DROPS BigDelight in jeans blue/teal.
Needle size: 4mm
Knitting time: 2nd-3rd March 2015.

IB 6

This second pair was for my friend. She picked the colours for both, and I really love these colours together!

IB 7

It’s a funny pattern, as the cuff gets knitted first and then the sock itself gets knitted, so when I first looked at it, I was definitely a bit confused about how the finished sock would look.

IB 4

The buttons are only for looks they are just sewn on at the end.

IB 5

And this pair is also super warm and cosy.

Yarn: DROPS BigDelight in atlantis.
Needle size: 4mm
Knitting time: 3rd-5th March 2015.

FO: Romper and One Gorgeous Girl!

A good friend who moved back to her home country of South Africa a couple of years ago and then had a gorgeous daughter and wanted a playsuit for her, so she asked me.

This is a great little pattern called Vinterdrakt/Winter romper by Paelas Paelas. However, it is a pretty bad translation, which someone who has not been knitting as long as I have might not be able to follow it.

And instead of using Merino wool I used DROPS Muskat, since it would be worn by my friends little girl in South Africa.

I didn’t really have a problem reading the pattern, but I knit the top a little too tight, so had to open it up again and knit it again.

My friend picked the colours, which are just so pretty together. But I don’t think I need to say anything else, but will let the following pictures do the talking…

NV 39 NV 40 NV 41 NV 42 NV 43 NV 44

Pattern: Vinterdrakt/Winter Romper by Paelas Paelas.
Yarn: DROPS Muskat in light purple blue and old pink.
Needle size: 4mm
Knitting time: 27th May to 7th June 2015.

FO: Baby Booties

Earlier this year I made another pair of booties for an ex-colleague of mine who had a beautiful baby girl.

Back when I knit these I didn’t know that it would be a girl, so I went with a unisex white and yellow combination.

Since my friend lived in California at the time I also used cotton yarn rather than wool, just to make sure that they wouldn’t be too hot for the baby.

Regular readers of my blog will know this pattern, and it’s my version of Saartjes Bootees, which I actually need to write up as it much quicker than the original pattern.

KJW 4And of course they also got their own box.

Pattern: My version of Saartjes Bootees.
Yarn: DROPS Muskat in yellow and white.
Needle size: 3mm
Knitting time: 16th April 2015.

FO: Headband

Our cousin Shai has regularly hopped over from Australia to visit us and last time I offered to make him a replacement headband for his old tatty one. I made this earlier this year (I also made a couple of other things as he and his girlfriend were expecting a baby, who arrived last week), which I will show later on this blog.

There is really no way that a headband makes for good pictures, unless it’s being worn.

SN 4

This was an incredibly easy DROPS Design pattern, I knit this up in an afternoon.

SN 5

I am grateful to Shai for sending such awesome photos…doesn’t he look cool with his headband?

SN 7

And here’s a last one with his gorgeous girlfriend!

Pattern: Ear warmer with cables and rib by Garnstudio DROPS Design.
Yarn: DROPS Merino Extra Fine in black.
Needle size: 4mm
Knitting time: 25th July 2015.
