Some More Booties

Here’s another pair of my booties that I knitted back in May 2010 for a good friend from school. He had a little boy (not so little anymore now) in September 2010.

There’s not much else I can really say about these, apart from the fact that I just love knitting them.

They’re always my go to knitting item for a gift.

New House: Luke’s Room

We’ve had glorious weather today and we had a few friends over for a ‘mini-housewarming’ as my husband called it. So, that meant a good tidy up and I actually got the chance to take pictures of our new house. Over the  next few days I’ll show you some of the rooms, first it’s Luke’s room.

The room we’re using for him is painted a lovely blue and gets amazing morning sunshine, that is after I remove his blackout blind (wouldn’t want him to wake up too early as we’re going into Summer). The dolphin picture was already in the room, but it actually fits well I think.

The rocking chair that we used in his previous room still fits very well and still gets used quite a lot, not just by me, but also by Luke now. He loves climbing onto it and rocking on it standing up. Only when we’re around of course!

The great thing about this new place is that we have huge amounts of space, also in Luke’s room. And this is an extra chest of drawers that our landlady had left us and it’s great for storing nappies, wipes and loads of other things. We’ve also been able to add the mirror, which used to stand on the floor in Luke’s old room, meaning that I was always worried about him knocking it over. It’s definitely much better on the wall!

I’ve also finally been able to put up the drawing that I actually did when I was little, I can’t remember exactly how old I was, but my Mama saved it for me and gave it to me when I was pregnant with Luke. It’s a tad high, but I think it still works quite well. On the mantle we’ve got Luke’s birthday present that we gave him. We’re hoping that we’ll be able to add to it for Christmas presents and birthday presents in the future.

We’ve also put up the shelves again that we got from Ikea, as they’re great storage for Luke’s toys.

The changing table has a good spot as well and I’ve been able to put another one of the drawings my ‘Mama’ sent me up on the wall.

And we’ve also put up some new gels on the windwows. A couple of pirates, some flowers and some dogs, all of which Luke loves.

And finally we’ve also put up Luke’s dancing fairies in the window, which is where they can gently sway in the breeze.

FO: Another Hat for Luke

I know, I know, does one boy really need so many hats I hear you asking. I think he does, and this one was knitted out of cotton yarn so that he can wear it now as we’re going into Spring and potentially later this year when we’re going into Autumn.

It’s an easy pattern from the Garnstudio team, but I actually underestimated how long it would take me to knit it. I made the size for 2 years, as I wanted to make sure Luke can wear it for a little while longer. The last few hats I made him were pretty small for him very quickly.

I think it took me so long to knit as I was using double pointed needles and because there were so many stitches on the needles I had to keep pushing the stitches back and forth. Look at Luke trying to get hold of it while I was taking a picture.

He wasn’t that interested in wearing the hat when I did want to take the pictures, but eventually I got a few.

And I managed to also get some pictures when we’ve been out and about.

FO: Yellow Mini Hat (with a Gorgeous Baby Girl)

Sorry for the silence, we got our Internet connected today, but I’ve been busy with other things. The move went very well and we’re loving the new house. There’s so much space we don’t quite know what to do with it. I’ll be writing more about the house and the different rooms soon. However, I needed to get something up here first. There was a new arrival this last weekend, actually on the day we moved and before she arrived I had knitted her this hat:

It’s a pattern I go back to a lot, as it’s so nice and easy to knit and looks so nice.

And here’s the gorgeous little girl wearing it. Juliette Luella Bonjour, was born at 5:15pm GMT on 17th March 2012.

I know I’ve been silent the last couple of days, I’ve been busy with packing up and some last minute work I had to do. I also wanted to check in and let you know that we’re moving tomorrow and we’ll only get Internet on Monday. So, that means that I’ll be quiet another few days. Unless I’m so keen to blog I do it from my phone.

You’ll just have to wait and see! In the meantime I’ll leave you with this:

FO: More Baby Socks

Another pair of baby socks that I knitted when we were in Australia. These were meant to be sold at the Christmas market my friends and I did in early December, but alas, they were not. So, I’ve kept them safe and will gift them to a new baby soon.

I just follow my own pattern for these socks, and just amend the stitches I cast on depending on how big I want them to be. They look quite nice I think, and in fact they’re the same colour as the pair I made for Luke, which he still wears a lot!
