FO: Popcorn Cardigan

It’s a shame I never remember to write down notes as I am knitting, as I would then be able to publish some patterns, like for example this sweet popcorn cardigan that I made back in April for a friend’s daughter.

ke-1ke-8I loosely followed the dimensions of several jumpers to make sure that I got the sizing right, but the rest I pretty much did freestyle.

ke-5 ke-11

I love everything about the end result, the colour, the amount of bobbles aka popcorn, which I was sure would be too much almost the entire time I was knitting it.

ke-12 ke-7

I love those bobbles all lined up, they look so sweet. And that yellow is such a happy colour. Making so many bobbles does take it’s time, but it’s so worth it.

ke-3 ke-9

I made this to fit a child aged 6-7, so the sleeves are a bit long, but that just means my friend’s daughter is able to wear it for longer!

ke-6

I used a twisted rib, where you twist the knit stitch, which makes the rib a bit stiffer. It works great!

ke-2 ke-4

I managed to find these buttons in my stash, which work really well with the finished cardigan, especially as I didn’t want to put something that took away from the bobbles.

ke-10

I added pockets too, because 5-7  year old kids love pockets, don’t they?

FO: Beanie and Booties, inc. Sweet Boy

A friend that I studied Journalism with had a baby boy at the start of this year. Even though I haven’t seen my friend since I finished my studies in 2004 I still wanted to knit her something. So I knitted my usual go-to beanie and bootie combo.

The beanie is my old favourite from DROPS, and I knit this up in the 0-3 months size since it was going to be a Winter baby.

I also knitted up my version of Saartjes Bootees in a matching green and light blue.

I boxed both of them up in one of my boxes and sent them off to my friend.

SM 10

My friend sent me a picture of her sweet little boy in his little hat. Such a cutie.
