FO: Beanie on a Handsome Baby Boy

I am calling this the week of hats, although this is only the second hat I am posting about this week, it makes me think that I’ll continue to for the rest of the week.

This latest one is the cable beanie that I’ve knitted a few times already, and a friend from my CrossFit class that I attended through the Summer last year ordered this for her little boy. By the way I am hoping to get back to my class, but have been plagued by sciatica problems…I blame my heavy baby boy!

BVN 1

I knitted the 9-12 months size after my friend gave me the right measurements. She liked the blue and turquoise combination, but I picked the exact combination.

BVN 2

I used some DROPS Baby Merino from the stash, but also ordered some to be able to complete the beanie.

BVN 3

I also knitted a pair of booties for her gorgeous boy, in a bigger than usual size, which actually worked a treat.

BVN 4

I just added another 10 stitches when casting on and kept the rest of the pattern as it was, so the booties ended up a size 11 cm as per my friend’s request.

BVN 5

I also picked some bigger buttons to go with the larger booties.

BVN 6

I know the colour combination isn’t actually the same as the beanie, but it’s as close as I could get it.

BVN 7

Here are both, the beanie and the booties together.

BVN 8

My friend’s gorgeous little man has been wearing his beanie a lot, as far as I know and she sent me this gorgeous picture of him…he is such a handsome little man.

FO: Gorgeous Baby wearing Booties

An ex-colleague of mine had a little girl earlier this year and I knitted her a pair of my old favourite, my version of Saartjes Bootees.

KCW 1

I don’t need to explain these much anymore, I guess?

KCW 2I used some leftover DROPS Muskat for these and matched the pink sole with the red top.

KCW 3

I still love these booties, especially as they can be worn by either baby boy or baby girl (maybe in a different colour combination?)

KCW 4

And of course I made a box for them to be kept safe when posting and maybe even as a keepsake when they don’t fit baby anymore.

KCW 5

My friend was kind enough to send me her gorgeous girl wearing them, and doesn’t she look adorable and very pleased with herself? I love how she’s holding her little hands…too cute.

FO: Booties

I can’t believe it’s been over two months since I last posted. We’ve been busy here with holidays coming to an end, my job being very busy and other things (watch this space).

I thought it might be a good idea to get back to posting my huge number of FO’s from the last few years (yes embarrassingly I have so many that I haven’t written about).

These booties were made for a friend from school who had a baby boy in 2012, I made him a pixie hat too and blogged about it here.

He was the lucky recipient of the booties I designed myself.

I still love this pattern, even though I mainly knit Saartjes Bootees at the moment for gifting. These little guys are brilliant because I can use up lots of leftover sock yarn for them.

CS 5

They are great also because they are one of the few baby booties that actually stay on those cute little feet.

CS 6

Here’s a quick shot of the bootie and pixie hat together.

And would you look at those sweet feet in the booties…
