FO: Girl Cowl and Hat

It’s amazing what a reminder from a friend can do to you. I knitted this little set, a hat and cowl for my beautiful friend’s daughter back in 2015. And I still haven’t posted about it. So when my friend posted a picture of her daughter wearing it and the fact that it still fits I knew I needed to get onto it.

So, I made a neck warmer and beanie/hat combo from my favourite design team at Garnstudio. My friend also decided to pick the exact colours that the pattern calls for.

Both pieces were wonderfully quick knits as the pattern recommends size 5mm needles, using two yarns at the same time: DROPS Alpaca and DROPS Kid-Silk. As you can imagine the alpaca and silk combination make it a wonderfully soft and fluffy finished piece, and there is something to be said about knitting with luxurious fibres. It makes my knitting just fly off the needles. Both neckwarmer and hat were wonderfully easy knits that ended up beautifully soft and very sweet and girly.

And isn’t this the sweetest picture of my friend’s daughter wearing it when she first received it?

It’s amazing how happy these pictures make me, seeing someone wearing my makes, my heart jumps for joy!

I particularly love that she puts her shoes on the wrong feet (my boy used to do this too).

FO: Another Cowl

The second cowl I made last December was for the assistant at Luke’s Kindergarten.

V GGS 1 V GSS 2I originally wanted to use a DROPS pattern to make the cowl, but then decided to wing it and made the pattern up.

I should have written down some numbers, i.e. stitches and so forth, but of course I didn’t. So I wouldn’t be able to replicate this exact same cowl.

I used the same colour DROPS Merino Extra Fine that I used for Luke’s jumper. It’s such a lovely colour and works really well with this cowl.

FO: Purple Cowl

Back in November last year I knit two cowls for Luke’s Kindergarten teachers. The first one was for the main Kindergarten teacher.

I used DROPS Merino Extra Fine in purple and used this pattern, but amended it slightly.

I added some stitches and I made I didn’t make it quite as wide as the pattern suggested.

I think the finished piece looks great, don’t you agree?

FO: Ponytail Hat

In January this year a good friend asked me to make her a hat that she could get her ponytail through and could also pull down to her neck like a cowl. So I started thinking and came up with this design.

My friend picked the colour and she decided on cotton, as she finds wool too scratchy and too hot. I decided on using a cable pattern, which makes it especially pretty I think.

I knitted holes for the string at the top of the hat to thread through the cord, see the pictures  below.

My friend loved the hat/cowl and used it on a trip to Iceland a few weeks after I finished it for her.
