My good friend Davina asked me to knit two jumpers for her, one for her gorgeous daughter Bonnie and one for herself. She picked a gorgeous orange merino yarn that her dad, who owns a sewing machine store in Edinburgh, sent her.
I believe I added more ‘popcorn’ than the pattern called for, but they just look so sweet! I knitted up the size for 2 years as my friend wanted it to be big enough for her daughter for another year or so.
What I really love about this pattern, apart from the ‘popcorn’ is the twisted rib, it adds such a nice finish. Actually it’s really easy to knit it, check out this video if you need some help!
The knitting took a little longer than a usual jumper would because of the ‘popcorn’ but the final look of it is just perfect and worth the extra time it took to make.
And just take a look at gorgeous Bonnie wearing her jumper, and a bonnet that I made for her too (blogged about here.) Doesn’t she look cute?
I then also knitted Davina a short, long-sleeved jumper using the same ‘popcorn’ pattern as the ‘little jumper’.
The rest of the pattern I just made up, following the general sizing for a womens jumper in small. Easier than I thought it would be, but actually I didn’t write any notes, so I am not sure I would be able to recreate it.
I am very pleased with the final result and my friend is too.
She looks amazing in it, doesn’t she?
My friend is currently away, but she sent me the most amazing picture yesterday, which prompted me to post about these two beautiful girls in their ‘Anna-made’ jumpers.
Pattern: My own. Yarn: Wendy Merino DK yarn in paprika. Needle size: 4mm Knitting time: 14th April – 4th May 2016.
Back in February of last year a friend asked me to knit her a cardigan that she saw me share on here.
I had also knit this for another good friend, and I still need to blog about that here too. Unlike the other two versions, this one had long sleeves.
It’s funny, black never photographs very well, but it actually looks really nice.
This is actually a lovely pattern as it’s very classic and won’t really go out of fashion. the nice touches of the double moss stitch for the front and collar and the cuffs of the sleeves makes it extra special.
And as it calls for 5mm needles it actually knits up really quickly, even though it’s in adult size.
I also think it’s lovely and warm as it’s knitted with 100% wool from DROPS Design.
My finishing techniques are getting better and better, even though I’m not a huge fan of sewing up, I have taught myself how to finish seams so they look very professional.
Pattern:Silver Haze by DROPS Design. Yarn: DROPS Nepal in black. Needle size: 5mm Knitting time: 22nd-28th February 2015.
