FO: Baby Coat

A good friend gave me a few projects last year that she had started, but never been able to finish. She has other amazing talents and is an amazing cook. In fact she recently did a sourdough workshop that I attended, and thanks to her we always have fresh sourdough bread in our house now! It goes down a treat!

One of the projects was this sweet little baby coat.

It was a pattern that my friend had bought in New Zealand by Shepherd Yarns, but it’s not available online. It’s a shame really as it is a very sweet little coat.

My friend provided me with the yarn too, but maybe she lost one in transit, but there wasn’t quite enough so I had to substitute with some of my leftover DROPS Baby Merino. The eagle-eyed among you will be able to spot that they are slightly different tones of white.

Using 3.5mm needles meant that this project took a little while, but it wasn’t too bad as it was a small 0-3 months size.

I love the effect of the moss stitch and the gathering at the waist, and I’m a little annoyed at myself that I didn’t make a copy or scan the pattern. I guess I can always get it back from my friend to make one.
