FO: Baby Dress

An ex-colleague of mine had a gorgeous baby girl last year, joining two handsome brothers. I had knitted something for her second boy, so when I knew she was having a baby girl and checked through my Raverly queue and found this gorgeous pattern that I knit up for her.

I was able to use some of my DROPS Safran that I had in my stash. A couple of years ago I messed up an order and have mountains of pink shades to use up.

I found the pattern on Pinterest originally, but have since looked at all the patterns that OGE Knitwear Designs has published on Ravelry, and there’s a great selection on there.

LR 14

Even though its a sport weight, 5 ply yarn it actually knit up really quickly. Although having a 5-months old baby myself at the time, it took me longer than it normally would.

I just love the leaf pattern, it looks so pretty on the front and back. I’ve wondered since making this if I could use it all over a jumper or a little dress, what do you think?

LR 16

Also, I love the way the decreases on the side of the dress work out, they frame the dress beautifully.

LR 18

And the little sleeves are so sweet, although with my choice of cotton yarn I thought they might be too small and tight, but I think they worked out fine.

And I had sweet pinkish buttons in my stash that I was able to use.

The dress was well received, of course, which makes me happy!

FO’s: Two Waistcoats

Back in February 2014 I got a bunch of wool from a friend who runs an amazing company, Punk Me Up Buttercup. I then made her a little waistcoat for her son.

So, I used this DROPS pattern that I’ve used a few times before and since. But I actually made a huge mistake with this first waistcoat, and made the armholes way too big. So I knit another one in yellow.

I love this pattern, it knits up really quickly, and apart from sewing up the shoulder seams and the fake pockets there is no other sewing. How great is that?

TP 8

I had these lovely yellow buttons in my stash and don’t they look sweet with this yellow waistcoat?

TP 9

The little pockets are very sweet, but really they are just for effect.

TP 10

TP 13

The double moss stitch at the top of the waistcoat is really sweet and gives the finished vest a little bit more structure.

TP 11

This yarn, which was Rowan pure wool 4 ply was really nice to knit with and I like the finished effect of it too.

FO: My Max in his Romper

My beautiful Max turned one year old today! I just cannot believe this year has passed by so quickly! In honour of his big day I’d like to share a little romper I knit for him in June.

I used this lovely Kjappstrikka Drakt: Quick Knit Suit pattern from Paelas Paelas. The pattern is great, just not very well translated. But as I’m an experienced knitter it wasn’t a huge problem for me. The pattern calls for Merino yarn, but I decided to pick some DROPS Muskat for it as Max was going to be wearing it during the Summer months.

I loved the end result so much I almost want to make it again, and I did put Max in it a lot while it fit him. But just judge for yourselves, be warned: picture and cuteness overload!

Isn’t he adorable in his little romper?

And here he and Luke are together…aren’t they sweet? They make my heart sing!!!
