FO: Icy White Poncho

In 2014 I made a birthday present for my good friend Kersti, she often orders booties that she gifts to friends from me. So I thought it was high time I knit something for her.

She had seen this poncho when I was knitting it for another friend and really liked it. Most of Kersti’s clothes are black or white, so she was keen for a white poncho.

I still love this pattern, even though it takes quite a while to knit up. Luckily it calls for 4mm needles, which are my favourite size needles.

When I was knitting with the white DROPS Muskat cotton yarn I was worried that it would stain while I was still completing it. But as it is cotton it can be washed at 60 in the washing machine.

The collar turned out really big, so I sewed it on and added an elastic band to it, to make sure it wouldn’t get wider.

I can’t remember how many skeins of yarn I used, but I know it was a lot.

I love how the leaf pattern looks on the front and back, and because they are the same it can be worn either way.

And my friend loved the poncho when I gave it to her.

This is how much she loved it. By the way, I LOVE that her hair matches the poncho.

  1. What an amazing gift! It’s beautifully made and a really lovely pattern- but your friend makes it just shine! Very appropriately, it looks made just for her- the perfect match!

  2. this poncho is so beautiful, and it looks amazing on her!! Isn’t it the best when someone is as happy receiving hand knit as you were when making it?!
