Following on from yesterday’s post, I also knitted my friend some booties. You’ve all seen these, I’ve knitted my fair share of them in the last few years.
I decided to use the same colour cotton as the cardigan yesterday. I love the colour, but I was worried that it might be a bit too matching, but in the end it was actually fine.
While I previously used DROPS Merino Extra Fine for these booties, I now always stick with DROPS Muskat, which works very well.
I had some buttons in my stash that I used, which I think work well and are definitely unisex.
I haven’t seen these on, but I am sure they looked adorable on my friends little boy.
In late Summer 2013 I made a couple of things for a good friend from Australia. She was had a little boy in September 2013. I’ll post the three items that I made for him in the next three days.
First off here’s a cardigan I made, another DROPS pattern. I decided on something that used cotton rather than wool as he was born just on the cups of the Australian Summer.
I remember knitting this, it’s really nice and quick and I love how the lacy pattern looks. It’s a good cardigan for a Summer baby or one from hotter climates.
Because I didn’t know at the time what my friend was having I picked this light pistachio colour and I love how it looks. I have to say, some of the pictures don’t do the colour justice.
And here are some close up shots of the finished piece.
I can’t believe it’s been over two months since I last posted. We’ve been busy here with holidays coming to an end, my job being very busy and other things (watch this space).
I thought it might be a good idea to get back to posting my huge number of FO’s from the last few years (yes embarrassingly I have so many that I haven’t written about).
These booties were made for a friend from school who had a baby boy in 2012, I made him a pixie hat too and blogged about it here.
He was the lucky recipient of the booties I designed myself.
I still love this pattern, even though I mainly knit Saartjes Bootees at the moment for gifting. These little guys are brilliant because I can use up lots of leftover sock yarn for them.
They are great also because they are one of the few baby booties that actually stay on those cute little feet.
Here’s a quick shot of the bootie and pixie hat together.
And would you look at those sweet feet in the booties…
